The Seahawks were 'bit' after a review overturned DK Metcalf's fourth-quarter catch.
The Seattle Seahawks (6-5) have dropped out of the playoffs altogether as December approaches.
The Seahawks returned from their bye week with a 40-34 overtime loss against a Las Vegas Raiders (4-7) squad that has struggled to win close games all season. Josh Jacobs had over 200 yards rushing and over 300 yards from scrimmage. The Raiders offence gained 576 yards and did whatever they wanted against a terrible Seahawks defense.
Geno Smith threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns but was intercepted, resulting in a Raiders touchdown. Kenneth Walker III rushed for two touchdowns but couldn't get going otherwise, and he and Smith had a crucial miscommunication that resulted in a Raiders fumble recovery.
Seattle has now lost two straight games, putting its postseason hopes in jeopardy.
After a dismal start, the Raiders marched down the field on the Seahawks defence. Derek Carr was gripping his ribs after taking a hefty shot from Uchenna Nwosu on a 3rd down convert, but he returned to the game on the following play. Ryan Neal should have picked Carr on his first pass after the apparent injury, but it got away from him. Carr completed an 11-play, 75-yard drive with a touchdown pass to an open Ameer Abdullah on the wheel route. Quandre Diggs blew it on the play. 7-7.
The Raiders got the ball back after a Seattle punt, but they quickly gave it back on another interception by Quandre Diggs. Carr was looking for TE Foster Moreau, but Cody Barton got a hand on it, giving Diggs his second pick of the day.
On two red-zone passes that were almost intercepted in the end zone, Geno nearly gave it right back. Duron Harmon's third down completion into the back of the end zone was ruled to have bobbled the ball on the way down, and the play was reversed. After all, there was no interception, and Jason Myers' chip shot field goal was the outcome. Seahawks 10-7.
Quarter Two
Vegas was three-and-out, so the Seahawks took over. Geno Smith made a number of good throws to DK Metcalf, but on fourth-and-1, a call for Phil Haynes for unauthorised man downfield prevented Tyler Lockett from converting within the Raiders' five-yard line. 13-7 Seahawks. Jason Myers had to come out to attempt the field goal, which he made from 34 yards out.
To gain their first advantage of the day, the Raiders used some cunning. A flea flicker back to Carr, facing first and ten at Seattle's 36, led to an easy pass to a crossing Mack Hollins, who jogged in for the touchdown. Raiders 14–13.
Denzel Perryman successfully intercepted Geno after what appeared to be a route mix-up between Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf, who collided and resulted in the interception. On the following play, Josh Jacobs bullied the entire Seahawks defence for a 30-yard touchdown. Raiders, 21–13.
Smith came out swinging after the pick and started to dominate. Smith and Tyler Lockett connected for a stunning 35-yard touchdown after five straight completions. Seahawks win 21–20.
In an effort to get into halftime with more points scored, the Raiders converted a crucial 4th and 2 on a run with Josh Jacobs out wide. Jacobs advanced Vegas into the area of the field goal after Tariq Woolen failed to make the tackle in the backfield. Carr's pass to Foster Moreau placed Vegas in the danger zone. Oddly, the Raiders decided against attempting an end zone shot with:14 remaining and instead kicked a field goal. From 36 yards out, Daniel Carlson hit the field goal. Raiders win 24-20.
Quarter Three
With a 7-play, 75-yard drive that included a pair of simple catch-and-runs by Tyler Lockett and Marquise Goodwin as well as an enraged dash by Kenneth Walker III for his second touchdown, the Seahawks recovered the lead. Seahawks win 27–24.
Vegas answered with a run-heavy 68-yard drive in which rookie running back Zamir White and Josh Jacobs feasted on a weak Seahawks defensive line. Strangely, the Raiders decided to kick a field goal on 4th and 1 from inside the 10-yard line. Yeah. It was fastened by Daniel Carlson. 27-27.
The Raiders actually did anything they wanted on the ground to close the quarter, but Foster Moreau fumbled a gimme third down ball that would've prolonged the drive.
Third Quarter
A disastrous exchange between Geno Smith and Kenneth Walker ended a promising 9-play, 63-yard drive abruptly. Walker appeared to be surprised to receive the ball, which led to a fumble that Chandler Jones recovered deep in Raiders territory. Josh Jacobs kept talking
He gained over 100 yards on the ground and over 50 yards through the air by tearing through the Seahawks' defense. A toss to Jacobs was STUFFED by Ryan Neal and Cody Barton for a turnover on downs when they faced a 4th and inches situation close to midfield. Huge!
